How it all started
I began to get interested in gardens and gardening about 20 years ago. As property developers my wife Sarah and I had long held an interest in architecture and garden creation. As our children began to get older and more time became available we took a particular interest in perennial plants which lead us to Salvias. With a large two acre garden our initial attempts at growing Salvias had very limited success but knowing we had the ideal growing conditions for these wonderful plants we persisted. About ten years ago the continued efforts began to pay off, firstly with Microphylla and then other Salvia varieties. With over 1000 of them available to choose from there is never a lack of choice. We have over 250 in our combined collections with new additions coming along annually as more are released by breeders to the market, and our successes becomes stronger. Sarah is busy propagating these through the spring each year and we always try to hold back ups in the greenhouse in case of inclement winters.
The salvia microphylla collection is stunning! Their vibrant colors and long flowering period have transformed my garden. Highly recommend these beautiful, low-maintenance plants!
